Hope in the Dark 23 - Contract to the Warrens

The Plague Doctor stepped outside and
gently rubbed the backs of the two two companions as the alcohol left
their systems, Garin looked at the plague doctor in anger.

“What did you give us?!”
his voice thinly veiling the anger of this betrayal but the plague
doctors eyes stared back, “Your at least feeling better now
right?” the doctor spoke and Garin growled faintly not willing
to admit the doctor was right as he rose from the ground and Quincy
followed suit, Garin looked at the plague doctor.

“So just you came out to our
lovely hamlet?” Garin asked with curiosity and the plague
doctor's mask shook in response.

“No my name is Lupus and my
friend who came with me is Razik, he's a practitioner of arcane
arts...witchcraft I say but it's effective never the less.” The
doctor spoke kindly, “He's at the barracks right now no doubt.”

Garin nodded his head and looked over,
“Quincy feeling ready for a mission?” he spoke but Quincy
shook her head.

“No no that drink...took a bit
out of me.” she spoke rubbing her no doubt burning throat from
the bile. Garin nodded and motioned for Lupus to follow him and
headed towards the barracks Cailli was already there speaking with
the Caretaker asking for a mission anything to get out of the hamlet,
The Caretaker smiled his toothy grin and pulled up a paper and handed
it over.

“The Warrens!” Cailli spoke
in shock, “That place is full of disease and horror it's
suicide.” the Caretaker shrugged and then spoke with a half
sane voice, “It's only minor scouting and securing stolen
supplies, Nothing too harsh.”

Lupus stepped forward and
rose a hand, “If your headed there I'll go as well. I know a
few things about plague my friend and I can assist in this
expedition.” The Caretaker clapped his hands together with
glee.

“Well well Cailli looks like you
got yourself your team.” he spoke cheerfully much to the dismay
of the grave robber.
